Shopping in Ljubljana
Ljubljana is a city where
any visitor can find a special souvenir to take
home. There are excellent fashion boutiques for
lovers of both foreign and domestic designer labels,
handicraft shops, where you can buy locally produced
pottery, ceramics, lace and crystal. There are also
galleries specialising in graphic arts, while Sunday
mornings are for browsing for antiques at the riverside
flea market. The colourful open market,
open every day except Sundays, is one of the best things about
Ljubljana. A morning spent here will fill the lunch table with
fish from the seven seas, fruit and vegetables, and air-dried or
smoked ham. A fantastic range of cheeses, herbs, honey and
traditional sweets will remind you of Slovenia once you are
home, especially if accompanied by a glass of your favourite
Slovenian wine. Special souvenirs from Ljubljana and Slovenia
are on sale at the Slovenian Tourist Information Centre.
